Meet the star of ‘Project Pathfinder’ and trade restoration tales on the Peter James Insurance stand at this year’s Practical Classics Classic Car and Restoration Show from March 23rd -25th.
Showcased on the stand – Hall 5 Stand 310 at Birmingham’s NEC will be a 1956 Riley Pathfinder ‘Katy’, the prized possession of Danny Hopkins, editor of Practical Classics magazine and the subject of his current and perhaps most challenging restoration project.
A familiar face to Practical Classics readers, poor Katy has really been through the mill, suffering everything from an extensive vandalism attack which left her unusable for three years, a burglary and even a ram-raid.
But things are looking up for her now under the wing of Danny and the Practical Classics team, who have travelled far and wide on a quest to bring her back to her former glory and are determined to show there is life in the old girl yet.
Show visitors have the chance to see Katy in the flesh, read her eventful tale, see the restoration so far and share their very own restoration successes, trials and tribulations.
Danny Hopkins himself will be appearing on the stand at intervals throughout the event to reveal the highs and lows of the project to date, and his love for this rather sorry-looking Pathfinder.
The Peter James team will be on the stand throughout to speak to show-goers about all the insurance options on offer to them, how to make sure their restoration projects are fully-protected.

Peter James Insurance’s Cheryl Maybury said:

“We’re delighted to have Katy on the stand – while she may not win any beauty contests at the moment, there’s certainly a lot of love, as well as blood, sweat and tears involved in bringing her back from an ugly duckling to a swan once again.”
