Austin Cars: Timeless Classics

The Austin Motor Company was founded in 1905 in Longbridge – very close to our office in Rubery! Over the years, the Austin organisation became part of the British Motor Corporation (BMC) Limited, and the Austin marque was also used by BMC’s successors British Leyland and the Rover Group. During this time, many Austin cars have been produced including A35, A40 Austin Seven, Allegro, Mini, Montego and Maestro. Here are some facts about some of our favourites:

  • Austin Seven:

In 1922, the Austin Seven was introduced. Considered as the first truly affordable small car available to the general public, the relatively lower price made it accessible to a wider range of consumers.

  • The Mini that made history:

The Austin Mini, launched in 1959, revolutionised and redefined British motoring with front-wheel drive and a sideways engine. It became a 60’s icon, loved by everyone including The Beatles.

  • Austin Allegro:

Launched in 1973, the Austin Allegro was a common sight back in the 1970s used as patrol ‘panda’ cars by several police forces.

Do you offer free agreed value for my classic Austin?

Yes, we do, simply let us know the value you’d like to agree when you speak to our team. It must be reasonable, and we won’t agree to an unprecedented value on a car unless it’s really special and you can explain why. Alternatively, we can work with an agreed value supplied to us, for example by a classic car club that you’re a member of.

Do you offer laid-up cover?

Yes. Our laid–up cover accounts for the change in risk for a car that is to be laid up for a long time. For example, if you are now planning an extended period of storage or even a major restoration that might take you the best part of a year. Laid up cover can save you some money whilst also ensuring the car is fully protected and covered while the work or storage continues.
