PJI’s Events Manager, Phil Beck, and his team had a great day at the BMM, Gaydon, on Sunday 5th June, organising a Junior Judge competition for kids attending the show. Phil is seen explaining the competition during the prize-giving in the arena, while the junior judges await their turn in the limelight.
Becky, Phil and Sam enrolled five junior judges to look around the Peter James Insurance Mini and Metro show, review the cars on display, and, after much scrutiny and careful consideration, decide on winners in 5 categories:
A – Coolest Car
B – Best Car Badge/Emblem
C – Cleanest Car
D – Best Colour Scheme
E – What car would they most like to drive when old enough?
Phil explaining the judging parameters to the junior judges, before they went out into the show to hunt for their winners.
With over 650 vehicles of all shapes and sizes on display, they were not short of cars to pick! The judges then got to explain why they had picked a particular car to the crowd watching in the arena.
Peter James Insurance Junior Judge, Emilia Haywood, chose L333 JON, a 1996 Rover Mini Cooper as the Coolest Car at the show because she loves its Union Jack roof!
But the owner turned out to be her Mum! Jennie Haywood must have been pleased that her daughter thinks her car is cool.
Peter James Insurance Junior Judge, Jack Grigg, selected Colin Woodage’s car for having the Best Car Badge/Emblem, on MRD 222F, a 1968 Morris Mini-Cooper S.
It has a rare Morris Cooper badge.
Peter James Insurance Junior Judge, William Roberts, chose R250 VRK, a 1997 Rover Mini Cooper as the cleanest car at the show, after he’d checked the entire car carefully for dirt, even under the wheelarches and inside the exhaust!
He was pleased to present the award to owner Mark Ruff who now has to live up to this standard for every show!
Peter James Insurance Junior Judge, George Tyndale, chose J617 VAC, a 1992 Rover Metro GTI as having the Best Colour Scheme at the show. This was a tough category to Judge with George commenting that he would have liked to have awarded this to more than one winner! But was pleased to present the award to owner, Marcus Maddison.
Peter James Insurance Junior Judge, Mehdi El Barakat, chose a 2001 Rover Mini Cooper Sports Pack, one of the last classic Minis to roll off the production line at Longbridge, as the car he would most like to drive when he is old enough. He presented owner Ian Phillips with his award. And was excited to try the driver’s seat for size.
Just as William Roberts was to try the racing bucket seats of the Best Badge winner.
