Fascinating Facts about Rovers
From Pedals to Petrol
Did you know? Rover’s journey started on two wheels. Founded as a bicycle maker in 1878, the company reinvented cycling with the groundbreaking Safety Bicycle in 1885. The company launched its first motorcycle in 1902 and its first car just two years later. After ceasing motorcycle production in 1924, Rover focused entirely on car manufacturing, going on to become one of Britain’s most iconic automotive brands.
Need for Speed
Rover built the world’s first gas turbine-powered car inspired by their wartime involvement with the jet engine. The Jet 1 could top 150mph and earned Rover its second prestigious Dewar Trophy for engineering innovation.
Rovers on TV
Rovers have been featured in many TV shows! The Professional’s Doyle drove a brown Rover P6, and fictional comedy character Alan Partridge drove a Rover 800. In fact, Alan’s Rover 800 even made it into our Top 10 Classic Cars on the Small Screen article.
FAQs
Do you offer free agreed value for my classic Rover?
Yes we do, simply let us know the value you’d like to agree when you speak to our team. It must be reasonable, and we won’t agree to an unprecedented value on a car unless it’s really special and you can explain why. Alternatively, we can work with an agreed value supplied to us, for example by a classic car club that you’re a member of.
Do you offer laid-up cover?
Yes. Our laid–up cover accounts for the change in risk for a car that is to be laid up for a long time. For example, if you are now planning an extended period of storage or even a major restoration that might take you the best part of a year. Laid up cover can save you some money whilst also ensuring the car is fully protected and covered while the work or storage continues.
How much will it cost to insure my classic Rover
Insuring your classic Rover car is cheaper than you may think and can be less than standard car insurance. Reach out to our friendly team today to receive your personalised quote.
