Fascinating Facts about Daimlers
Daimlers Affordable Luxury
Launched in 1932 during the challenging years of the Great Depression, the Daimler Fifteen brought the marque’s renowned luxury motoring to a wider audience. It was notably the first Daimler priced below £500 since the end of the First World War, making prestige ownership more accessible than ever before.
The Royal Warrant
Daimler’s royal connection stretches back to the very beginning of motoring. After experiencing a ride in a Daimler in 1898, the future King Edward VII became a customer and later granted the company a Royal Warrant. From Edward VII through to Queen Elizabeth II, every British monarch travelled in a Daimler, cementing the marque’s reputation as one of the cars of royalty.
The Daimler Dart: Beauty or Beast?
Launched in 1959 as Daimler’s answer to the booming US sports car market, the SP250 “Dart” was dubbed the British Corvette. Its looks divided opinion so sharply that critic’s famously called it “the ugliest car of the show” at the 1959 New York Motor Show. But its lively V8 performance helped it win a devoted fan base, making it one of Daimlers most talked-about classics.
FAQs
Do you offer free agreed value for my classic Daimler?
Yes we do, simply let us know the value you’d like to agree when you speak to our team. It must be reasonable, and we won’t agree to an unprecedented value on a car unless it’s really special and you can explain why. Alternatively, we can work with an agreed value supplied to us, for example by a classic car club that you’re a member of.
Do you offer laid-up cover?
Yes. Our laid–up cover accounts for the change in risk for a car that is to be laid up for a long time. For example, if you are now planning an extended period of storage or even a major restoration that might take you the best part of a year. Laid up cover can save you some money whilst also ensuring the car is fully protected and covered while the work or storage continues.
How much will it cost to insure my classic Daimler?
Insuring your classic Daimler car is cheaper than you may think and can be less than standard car insurance. Reach out to our friendly team today to receive your personalised quote.
