Honda NS400R on Stafford Show Stand
A road-going sports bike, inspired by one of Freddie Spencer’s famous rides will be starring on the Peter James Insurance stand at this year’s Classic Motorcycle Mechanics Show.
The Honda NS400R two-stroke sport bike was inspired by Honda’s NS500 – 500cc GP-bike, ridden by former motorcycle racing champion ‘Fast Freddie’ Spencer.
The gleaming NS400R displayed on the show stand at this year’s Stafford show belongs to the Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club’s Andy Bolas.
He explained: “The bike was first registered on 01/08/1985, and has covered less than 5,000 miles in its 33 years.
“The only things that have been changed since the bike left the factory are the tyres - the rest is original and un-restored.
“I’m the 5th owner of the bike, having added it to my collection in June 2007, and I’ve used it for sunny Sunday rides and the odd show.
“The bike certainly draws attention wherever it goes and has won various awards at the shows - one of the highlights being a second in the 1980s class at this show in 2008!
“The NS has also been in CMM in the May 2008 issue in an eight-page feature and again in 2010 for a buying guide.
“Its most recent appearance in the motorcycle press was in April 2017 when Freddie Spencer rode the bike for MCN and, to quote the former 250 and 500 world champion: ‘It’s the best one that I’ve ridden since I rode in the promotional video for the bike in 1984’ - Reviews don’t get much better than that!
Visitors to the show can come and see the NS400R up-close on the stand - M43/M42 - near the Live Stage in the Bingley Hall.
The Peter James Insurance team will be on hand throughout the event to speak to visitors about all the different insurance options open to them.
